The valley east of Makkah, ~5 km from the Ka'bah. Site of the Tarwiyah camp (8 Dhul Hijjah), the Jamarat stoning (10–13 Dhul Hijjah), and the Tashreeq mabit.

The plain of Arafat, ~20 km southeast of Makkah. The wuquf here on the afternoon of 9 Dhul Hijjah is the greatest pillar of Hajj. "Hajj is Arafah" (Tirmidhi 889). The real boundary is irregular and is marked on the ground with yellow signs — always verify visually.
